Blue Peter dinghy
Restoring my first boat

<< Back to stage 6

Final stages: The Blue Peter is back on her trolley, looking better and more seaworthy than she has for years. The only bit left to do is to fill the hull with expanded polystyrene for buoyancy, which I will do over the next few week.

Fully rigged and nowhere to sail. The rig is simple, very similar to the Topper. A bit cramped for an adult to sail, but possible. She is quite quick for her size, turns in her own length and can be reefed by wrapping the sail around the mast.

She rows beautifully single handed. I have yet to really try her under power, but that comes later in the season.

She is going to be renamed the Nellie Grace, tender to the Daisy Grace.

Altogether, a wonderful little boat, except for her weight, which is horrendous. If it hadn't been for that I think the sea would be awash with them.
