4: Layout and where to stow the main sail?

One area of design to be considered is where to stow the mainsail when reefed or when moored. In an open boat, you can shove it all somewhere in the cockpit. If you want to take the sail off altogether, it is not too difficult to do because there is so much room. In a cabin boat, there isn't so much room. You want the sail securely out of the way, especially if you are leaving the boat unattended on a mooring.

Laying out the cabin and the deck is also a multi-layered process. This little Flash slide show gives some of my musings which I am running past Matt Newland, but no certainty that any of them will work. You can use the "control panel" at the base of the show to scroll back and forth through the slides. There are four of them.
