Notes about the maps and charts

All maps and charts are created in the Royal Agricultural College using data published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries (MAFF). 

• Foot and mouth disease data is published daily at the MAFF FMD site. 

• Agricultural statistics covering number of livestock holdings etc. are published by MAFF economics and statistics group. The figures used here come from the 1999 agricultural census.

Maps

All maps are created in ArcView 3.2 GIS software from ESRI Inc. The base county map data comes from ESRI as part of the ArcView UK package. A new outbreak map is created for each day as full daily data is published. This means in practice that each is published about the middle of the following day.
